Fausto graduated from Rhodes University, Grahamstown, with a B.Com LLB in 2011. He was elected President of the Law Students’ Society and Chairman of the Law Students’ Council in 2010. His career began at Rhodes where he tutored first-year Commercial Law students in 2010, and was then hired by the University to lecture Commercial Law to second-year B.Com students in 2011. He then moved on to complete his articles of clerkship as a candidate attorney at Johannesburg-based law firm Mssrs Moodie & Robertson Attorneys, Notaries and Conveyancers, from 2012 to 2013, assisting in the primary practice areas of debt collection, civil litigation in general, and more specifically local government law and property law, including sectional title law.
After completing his articles of clerkship at Moodie & Robertson Attorneys, he remained at the law firm as a Legal Assistant for the duration of 2014, assisting with High Court and Magistrates’ Court trials and applications, and gaining high-level experience in company law, private property evictions, body corporate levy collections, municipal debt collections and pension fund disputes, amongst other areas.
Since joining the group in 2015, Fausto has established a highly systemised and functional legal department to monitor Community Scheme loans and levy collections, and the legal team which he leads and manages offers high-level legal support to the group and its business.
Fausto actively participates in seminars and conferences for the National Association of Managing Agents (NAMA) and the Community Schemes Ombud Service (CSOS) and in other activities in the community scheme industry. He consults closely with the group, and in a multitude of areas concerning the community scheme industry.
